Mr. Mark Newhouse, President

Mark Newhouse, who is the Executive Vice President for Newspapers at Advance Publications, serves as Palau’s Deputy Ambassador for Oceans and Seas. He is a well regarded philanthropist and committed supporter of ocean conservation.


Dr. Ellen Pikitch, Chief Scientific Officer

Ellen Pikitch is a prominent scientist in the fields of ocean science and conservation. She is currently Professor and Executive Director of the Institute for Ocean Conservation Science at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, Stony Brook University, and was the Founder and Director of Ocean Strategy, Marine Conservation Programs, and Fisheries Programs at the Wildlife Conservation Society.


Dr. Amir Dossal, Co-Founder

Amir Dossal is a 25-year veteran of the United Nations and Founder and President of the Global Partnerships Forum, a not-for-profit knowledge platform that provides changemakers with tools to build innovative partnerships to address economic and social challenges. Mr. Dossal is the co-founder of the Pearl Initiative, a Commissioner of the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development, and founding Commissioner of the Blockchain Commission for Sustainable Development.


Ms. Rosalind Walrath, Treasurer

Rosalind Walrath is on the Board of Directors for the New York League of Conservation Voters, a bipartisan nonprofit that supports pro-environmental political candidates and educates the public about environmental issues. Through an advisory council for the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University, she is involved in the restoration of Shinnecock Bay in Southampton, New York.


Christine Santora, Deputy Executive Director

Christine Santora is the Assistant Director of the Institute for Ocean Conservation Science at Stony Brook University. She is also Program Coordinator for the Shinnecock Bay Restoration Program in Southampton, NY. Ms. Santora earned a Master's Degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island and has over 15 years of experience in marine conservation and policy. 


H.E. Mrs. Tulik Beck

Tulik Beck served as Palau’s Ambassador for Oceans and Seas, allowing her to be an activist for conservation and sustainable development in her home country of Palau and abroad. She founded the nonprofit Fund for Sustainable Palau, which aims to implement the world’s first nationwide marine sanctuary where industrial fishing will be banned.


In Memoriam: Ambassador Stuart Beck, Co-Founder

H.E. Mr. Stuart Beck served as UN Ambassador for Oceans and Seas of Palau, focusing on promoting ocean sustainability on an international level, reversing the decline of fish stocks and ocean health, and promoting new forms of governance for the high seas. Prior to that, he served for 10 years as UN Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Palau. His career included many years of experience in business, law, and academia, including as President of Granite Broadcasting, Partner at Richenthal, Birnbaum and Beck, and a Visiting Lecturer at Yale Law School. Dr. Amir Dossal reflected on his dedication to ocean conservation in a tribute in June 2016.
